Noah Beit-Aharon
Noah Beit-Aharon
Noah Beit-Aharon is a graduate from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA and has taught a wide variety of age groups and subjects, from preschoolers to adults. He specializes is Arya Math Academy’s Senior AP English Literature Tutor.
Teaching Philosophy:
“I strongly believe in following what interests a student. This aids me in tying lessons to enrich a student’s experience. People of all ages remember information better only when it interests them, which is why some people who never did well in school could, nonetheless, memorize an amazing amount of sports trivia or name every cast member in their sixteen favourite shows.
To keep things interesting while teaching, the focus has to be placed on ‘why’ things work the way they do, and not just ‘how’. It’s not enough for me to say that a comma is in the wrong place; I need to show how it changes the sentence’s meaning. English has enough arbitrary rules without a teacher making them seem even more so!”
Dr Srinivas Sonti
Dr Srinivas Sonti is a PhD in Chemical Engineering from URI, RI, USA in conjunction with other prestigious degrees in the same field. He has a teaching experience in Undergraduate Chemistry and Chemical Engineering labs at University of Rhode Island and is Arya Math Academy’s Senior SAT Math Tutor.
Teaching Philosophy:
“I understand that each student has their own unique learning strategy. Consequently, I customize and design my tutoring style to suit the student. The rhythm of the class has to be at a pace that would fit the student’s learning curve. It is important to ensure the student stays interested and grasps the fundamental concepts before going to the next level concepts. Therefore, I build the foundation in subjects and teach fundamental concepts by showing relevance to current events and day-to-day activities. To make learning fun and interesting is all that I aim for.
I always advise my students to maintain a notebook on a constant basis which enforces a sense of discipline and increases their memory. Along with this, I also follow a practise of frequently assessing the students by designing questions and monitoring students’ problem solving approach.
Preparation for SAT requires strategies for time management during the exam. So I put constant endeavour to assure that the students solve enough test papers before SAT so that there is enough time to identify the weakness and work through the gaps in knowledge.”
Arjun Sonti:
Arjun Sonti is a graduate from Georgia Institute of Technology with a major in Computer Engineering and a minor in Robotics. He has a passion for embedded systems projects such as wireless appliances, electric rollerblades, and many other DIY projects. Arjun has always had an interest in programming and loves teaching others in a way that allows people to get a deeper understanding of programming languages. Arjun can tutor in C, C++, and Java. Starting in the summer Arjun will be working full time as a firmware engineer at SpaceX.
Teaching Philosophy:
“My philosophy is pretty much geared towards having the student understand the ‘why’ of a concept. In my experience of learning programming, I’ve found that, instead of simply memorizing a concept and attempting to recall it during assignments, understanding the concept to a deeper level by relating it to things in our daily lives allows students to have a much stronger grasp. In this way, students can apply the concepts to a wide variety of problems during exams and assignments.
I also attempt to explain the importance of outlining with pseudo-code before diving into a coding assignment. This helps in writing code faster and making it more efficient. Besides this, I make an attempt to describe concepts visually, as I believe this can be a powerful tool to master certain programming concepts.”
